Series 2

Approximately a year after the initial release, Hasbro released Battle Beasts series 2, which nearly doubled the number of action figures available. Like series 1, these were sold on two pack blister cards. The numbering system continued in the same fashion as series 1 and picked up where it left off, with the first beast in series 2 as #29. Also like series 1, they colored the weapons according to beast number (gold for the first half #29-40 and bronze for the second half #41-52). However there were some subtle changes. For example, the feet had indentations with the Hasbro logo and a peg hole, presumably for positioning the figures on stands, although no such stands were made to my knowledge.

The major difference came as a change of the heat sensitive rub symbols. Previously, the ‘heat sensative’ symbols, were not very heat sensitive. It required much effort by kids to get them to show up well enough to determine the beast’s affiliation. Also, the symbols (even when they were activated) were very difficult to see. Therefore, new symbols were created with brighter colors that were much easier to activate (example). This was of course put into effect for the series 1 beasts that were still being sold, so it is possible to find any beast with either symbol type. Furthermore, it is debatable when exactly this took place (series 2 or 3) as there exist series 3 beasts with the old symbols. I list the change here as I first remember seeing this with series 2.
