Battle Beasts
”They may be small but they can grow into an army”
Battle Beasts were a semi-popular toy line released in the US in 1986 by Hasbro. The toys were ~2 inch humanoid animals with detailed armor suits that came with heat sensitive rub symbols, which when activated revealed either Fire, Wood or Water. The intent of the Fire-Wood-Water symbols was to create a game similar to rock-paper-scissors with the figures. The beasts had only 2 points of articulation (at the shoulders) and each came with a hand-to-hand weapon such as swords, spears, etc.
The arms of the Battle Beasts have two points of interest. Firstly, they are removable, much like those of the He-man series. This caused issues as the arm itself had a joint that fit into the body and could break. Which leads to the second point, that replacing arms is a relatively easy process. Also, this brought the opportunity to switch arms between beasts (or more commonly substituting the arm from another beast in the event of a break).
We present our virtual tour of the Battle Beasts differentiated by their release. Please note, that a handful in the collection are play worn (i.e. 1 missing arm, several missing rub symbols). We will replace these eventually, as budgets allow, and thus update the pictures.
